CaRIne Crystallography from Divergent Software is a versatile tool for teaching and research in materials science, solid state physics/chemistry, and the earth sciences. CaRIne combines crystal structure drawing and display with capabilities for calculation and simultaneous display of powder diffraction patterns, reciprocal lattices and stereographic projections.
CaRIne has a worldwide user base of over 2000 individuals and groups.
CaRIne has recently been completely reworked in order to move the development of Windows, Linux, and Mac OX versions on to a unified platform that can be shared by multiple users. This rework has led to the release of version 4.0 for Windows and Linux with greatly enhanced graphic capabilities. The display of stereographic projections, reciprocal lattices, and powder patterns remains, for now, in version 3.1, and uses files from the newer version. Both versions are shipped with an order.
In addition to building and displaying crystals with thousands of unit cells, it is possible to build up surfaces, grain boundaries and interfaces interactively with the help of graphic tools and orient structures with the mouse.
For details of CaRIne's capabilities and sets of representative graphics, follow the links below. For more details and graphics visit the Divergent web site.
