Save on Phase Diagrams for Ceramists!

Version 3.1 of Phase Diagrams for Ceramists on CD-ROM will be released in June accompanied by a substantial price increase. Because of some quirky pricing by the American Ceramic Society, it could be much less expensive to license the current version now and then upgrade in June. The catch is that you must do this before the new version is released.

SciGlass 6.5 Available Soon

The massive glass property database SciGlass has been off the market for over two years while its ownership passed from one organization to another like a bad dish at a potluck. In this case there was nothing wrong with the dish. The problem was that it travelled with a set of organic chemistry applications and never found an organizational home.

SciGlass has now been licensed back to one of its original developers and the new version 6.5 will be available in June. Development of SciGlass continued for the past two years under the direction of Prof. Mazurin in St. Petersburg, so the capabilities have been enhanced substantially.

NIST Structural Ceramics Database available online

This critically evaluated database of structural ceramic properties is now available online . This excellent resource has been assembled by Ron Munro and is the best comprehensive source of ceramic mechanical properties that I know.

Molten Salt Database

Marcelle Gaune-Escard is heading an effort to bring online data on the thermophysical properties of molten salts. The collection and evaluation of this data was started by George Janz.
