FactSage is the world's premiere application for calculation of phase equilibria in multicomponent, multiphase non-ideal systems. A well-tested Gibbs energy minimizer, a diverse set of solution models, and an easy-to-use interface are combined in a powerful tool for analyzing a wide range of chemical, environmental, metallurgical, and geological systems.
FactSage is an amalgam of two older programs - ChemSage (GTT Technologies) and FACT-Win (Thermfact). Decades of calculations by hundreds of corporate and academic users have led to a reliable tool that quickly converges to the correct equilibrium state. A new Windows interface makes the software easy to learn and suitable for use in the classroom.
FactSage includes more non-ideal solution models than any other available software package. These models can be used to describe non-ideal gases, brines, alloys, salts, slags, mattes, alloys, and non-stoichiometric solids. FactSage solution models cover temperatures up to 6,000 K and pressures up to 1 Mbar.
FactSage includes pure substance/solution databases from either F*A*C*T or SGTE. Each includes data for over 3300 pure compounds. The F*A*C*T Solution Database is strong on inorganic oxides, sulfides and salts. The strength of the SGTE Solution Database is metals and alloys. The OLI Aqueous Database will soon be available. Hundreds of custom databases prepared originally for ChemSage are also available. Custom files to meet specific needs can be supplied. These databases are described in more detail here. FactSage includes six computational modules.

- Predom - calculate and display predominance area diagrams
- EpH - calculate and display Pourbaix diagrams
- Equilib - calculate phase equilbria
- Phase Diagram - calculate and display phase diagrams
- Optimize - define optimal model parameters from experimental data

FactSage is sold as a division license (corporate, government) or a department license (academic). FactSage can be used over a network within the division or department. The initial license includes three years of support and upgrades for the FactSage and the FACT database (if licensed). Two copy protection "dongles" are provided for use on PC's not connected to the network. Academic licensees must purchase either the FACT or SGTE databases along with FactSage.
