MacPDF

MacPDF is search/retrieval and interactive phase identification software for the ICCD PDF-2 databases. MacPDF supports all PDF-2 Search Indexes as individual searches and through the general Boolean search. Individual incexes include PDF number, mineral name, strong line, etc. Lists of successful matches are stored as search objects.

MacPDF's general Boolean search allows entry of Boolean criteria either as a list or using a text editor. The Mac interface allows flexible, easy specification of Boolean criteria. Elements can be entered by clicking on a periodic table. Batch processing and other search optimizations are provided to circumvent slow CD-ROM access times.

MacPDF is a true Mac application, not a port of an MS-DOS or Windows program. MacPDF supports standard Macintosh operations such as menus, printing, file input and output, and clipboard operations. MacPDF is fully integrated with the outside Mac environment. All objects can be imported from or exported to files of standard formats for use by other applications.

Versions

MacPDF comes in three different versions. The differences are:

• MacPDF 2.2: basic search retrieval software
• MacPDF 3.0: v2.2 plus the Interactive Phase Identification Module
• Minerals MacPDF: v3.0 plus the ICDD PDF-2 Minerals Subfile
