NIST/JANAF Thermochemical Tables

NIST/JANAF is a database of the Shomate coefficients that represent the JANAF Thermochemical Tables as a function of temperature with polynomial equations containing up to six terms.

This representation is consistent with use in the China Lake equilibrium package (often referred to as PEP - the propellant evaluation program, developed at the Naval Weapons Center in China Lake, CA). Tabulations are represented by one or more sets of coefficients derived from the following representation of the heat capacity:

Cp = a + bT + cT2 + eT3 + d/T2

If possible, one set of coefficients is used to represent the entire thermochemical tabulation. Typically, however, two sets of coefficients are necessary with the temperature ranges of 298 to 1,000 K and 1,000 to 6,000 K. The selected coefficients can be written to a file for use the the PEP program.
